New Year's In Mexico

We decided to make a trip to Mexico for New Year's this year. The last time we went
was over 4 years ago and most of Checel's family had yet to meet Isabel.
Since there were tons of family going and everyone stays at his grandma's house, we decided
to make "camp" instead of sleeping it he back of the truck. About 30 people came or stayed at
his grandma's house and we all had to share 1 bathroom! Wasn't pretty but I came prepared.
This was our tent! We brought a heater, blow-up mattress, portable crib for Isabel, heater,
mirror, pretty much anything you can think of besides putting a bathroom in there. It of course had to rain when we got there but thankfully it was all clear the rest of the trip.

This is his grandparents back yard. She told us she bought her house for 5 pesos and the lot for 7 pesos about 50 plus years ago. In American money, you couldn't buy a piece of gum with that. Its not much, they have no TV, a radio, they do most of there cooking outside and burn wood to heat it. Its a 4 room house, not 4 bedroom just 4 rooms. Kitchen and Dining room, there bedroom with 3 twin beds, a living room/hang out area and another area where they are 3 full size beds and of course the bathroom.
It is very beautiful, quiet and just relaxing. Very different from the big city.
Most people ride horses, but mostly they all drives cars. There are
ton of ranches everywhere you look. There are cows, horses, dog you name it just roaming
around.

This is the main street to get into the town, his grandmas house in the one on the right, the light tan color. (there is a brick house then there house)

This is the plaza. Everyone comes here to dance. There was a big band off to the left and everyone waits for them to start. They all dance around the gazebo. Of course we got out there and danced and boy its a work out but so much fun. You don't just stand in place and dance, now, you actually dance around it, everyone moves in a circle.

Now after a long vacation this was the last thing we wanted to see, the line to cross back into the US. It took us 4 hrs to get back in! Which all the times we have crossed have never seen anything like this! Everyone parked, put on music and we all just waited!

Once we finally made it back home, we all got sick. Go figure!
